Presentation Types

There are four presentation types to choose from when submitting your proposal. Each presentation type various on the type of audience delivery you prefer. In addition, please consider one of the four presentation styles available. Each presentation style various on the way you prefer to engage with audience members.  Learn more about each type of presentation type and style below!

Interactive Poster Presentation (2-hour Reception)

Visual presentations of your research or practice that reflects your contribution within the field. Posters illustrate information using graphs, photos, diagrams and text. Presenters will interact one-on-one or with small groups visiting their posters, providing attendees with summaries of their poster. Participants may ask questions and give feedback, sparking in-depth conversations about presenters’ posters. Posters will be set on tabletops with additional space for displaying supporting materials. There will be multiple posters set up in one room, allowing participants to interact with multiple poster presenters during the session. Presenters must set up their posters before the session begins and remain at their posters throughout the session. 

Presenters will be provided a tri-fold poster boards (36″ x 48″) and other materials (binder clips, tape, staplers) will be provided during the designated poster set up times. Presenters are responsible for bringing their poster to attach to their board.

Recorded Presentation (available virtually via conference Whova app)

Topical pre-recorded presentations between 15 and 25 minutes in duration. The recorded presentation type is a video format, similar too the 25-minute presentation. The video will be available (on-demand/asynchronously) for attendees via the conference app (Whova). The program you use to create the video is decided on by the presenter(s); however, accessibility standards are required such as captions, high color contrast, high quality audio, audio description of graphics, etc. The following are examples of recorded presentations from Pac Rim 2021: (1) Designing Socio-Culturally Responsive Problem-Based Learning Activities for Middle School Mathematics with Neʻepapa Ka Hana 2.0 (YouTube video); and (2) The Potential of Indigenous-led Tourism for Socio-Ecological Justice, Activism and Disability Awareness (YouTube video). 

Presenters will be provided accessibility trainings in January 2025.

25-Minute Presentation

Topical 25-minute oral sessions in a lectures-style break out room. Presenters will present back-to-back with another 25-minute presenter on a similar strand/topic. 

Presenters will be provided a room, projector and screen, podium and microphone.

60-Minute Presentation

60-minute or breakout sessions are panel presentations on a  specific topic that is part of the broader theme of the conference. Each panelist is required to provide a lecture-style of sharing ideas that are developed, rather than a discussion between panelists. And allows for opportunities for strategic audience discussion, and question and answers. Approved panels will require 2-3 panelists and 1 moderator. 

Presenters will be provided a room, projector and screen, podium and microphone.

Presenters provide the latest findings on a study, data analysis or best practices.

Audience will gain new information that contributes to their fields.

Fireside Chat

Facilitator or interviewer hosts casual and engaging Q&A conversations with participants.

Audience will participate in back and forth conversations with each other sharing opinions, ideas and stories.

Panel

Moderator hosts a round-robin lecture from 2-3 panelists and facilitates Q&A with participants.

Audience will engage with panelists and gain a different perspective of an issue.

Training

Presenters from a professional group that provides tangible skills, certifications or hands-on activities.

Audience will gain skills and methods that can be easily used after the training.
