Accessibility Statement
The Pac Rim International Conference on Disability is working to improve what we do to help everyone feel safe, comfortable, and supported during all conference sessions and activities. Please review the following details to support our commitments to inclusion, accessibility and belonging.
Where to Go for Assistance
The Information Table is located next to the Registration/Check-In area directly outside Room 311. Please visit this table for:
- General questions about our conference and agenda
- Locations of any and all conference events and features (Strand Rooms, bathrooms, etc.)
The Accessibility Table is located directly outside our Sensory Room (Room 301A). Please visit this table for:
- Locations of any and all accessible resources (accessible bathrooms, Guide Dog/Service Dog relief area, etc.)
- Alternative formats of conference materials and schedule
- Interpreters, assistive listening devices, and other communication assistance
- Notetakers & Sight Guides
- Orientation and mobility
- Reserved seating requests
- Pre-ordered tech equipment for presenters
- Guest and Visitor Parking Passes
- Other conference accommodations and needs

In Case of Emergency
If you have a disability that would interfere with your ability to recognize or respond in the case of an emergency, such as fire, please be sure to contact the Accessibility Table to let them know of your specific emergency-related needs. If you have questions about the Convention Center’s evacuation procedures or emergencies for guests with disabilities, please dial 0 from any house phone located in the common areas and in each meeting room. There is also a first aid nurse at the Convention Center should you need any medical related service. Their office is located between Rooms 318B and 319A or you can dial 0.
Automatic Captioning for Presenters
Live presenters at Pac Rim are required to use automatic captioning during oral presentations in an effort to increase accessibility for attendees. Automatic captioning can transcribe your spoken words as you present and display them on-screen as captions. This can help accommodate individuals in the audience who may be deaf or hard of hearing, or more familiar with another language, respectively.
Disability Accommodations
For those who have submitted requests for disability accommodations, please report to the Information Table to locate your requested services when you arrive at the conference.
CART Services / ASL Interpreting
Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART) and / or American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting is provided when requested by attendees in advance of the Conference through the registration portal.
Reserved Seating
If you require reserved seating for keynotes, strand presentations, or any other Pac Rim main conference day event, please stop by the Accessibility Table at least 30 minutes before the session to submit a request for reserved seating.
Location of Accessible Bathrooms, and Guide Dog/Service Dog Relief Area
Please visit the Information Table to pick up a map or receive verbal directions on the location of accessible bathrooms, and the Guide Dog/Service Dog relief area.
Conference Program
To get support with the conference program, visit the Information Table. A staff member will help you with any questions.
Digital Conference Program
The Conference Program will be available on the Whova app that allows attendees to explore the schedule like never before! Attendees can search the entire conference schedule, all speakers, sponsors, exhibitors, and other attendees. Attendees can also personalize their schedule and share it with friends. The conference schedule is available through any web browser or on the Whova app that attendees can download to their mobile phones and use on-site during the conference. A large-screen digital display of our conference app and agenda can also be found at our Accessibility Table, located directly outside our Sensory Room (Room 301A).
Relaxation Room
A relaxation room will be available to offer a quiet space if needed throughout our conference and is located in Room 301B, directly next to our Sensory Room (Room 301A) and our Accessibility Table.
Photography and Fragrance
Please, no flash photography during the Conference. Pac Rim is a fragrance free event.
